I am raising money to build a Borehole in Gambia on behalf of my beloved grandfather who passed away after being affected by Covid-19. It has been really hard for all of us and for myself as I spent my childhood with him and created many memories together. I still remember to this day, we would go to the Masjeed before fajr (dawn) time so he could make the Athan (call to prayer) for fajr and after the prayer we would go for a run together and he would outrun me leaving me breathless.

Water is one of the best forms of Sadaqah Jariya (on going charity) and my beloved grandfather will be rewarded for it as long as the water well is being used by the people up until the day of judgement.

My grandfather, Ayachi Laghzaoui, was loved by all of us so dearly. He taught me a lot of wisdom for my life and deen that I will never forget, just like he told me that only good deeds, dua from your sons and sadaqah jariyah goes with you to your grave. I want him to be showered with heaps of reward in the hereafter and that his status is elevated manifold by setting up Sadaqah Jariya on his behalf. What are we doing..?

A borehole is either an electric or solar powered mechanism which involves drilling deep into the ground to access clean water. The water is then powered up and a tap system is created. The advantages of a borehole make it more sustainable, easily maintained and accessible to all.

A Borehole Consists Of:

• A solar pump

• Solar panel/Electric setup

• A tap

• Large water tank and stand

• Personalised plaque with your name

It is important for public health that available water- whether it is used for drinking, domestic use or food production- is safe. It has been proven that improved water supply and sanitation can boost countries economic growth and result in poverty reduction. Every person has the right to safe, continuous and physically accessible water for personal and domestic use.
