Salam Charity: Ramadan Appeal

Salam Charity is more than just a charity.  It is the coming together of people who all share the belief that we are privileged to serve those less fortunate than us. 

This Ramadan, Salam Charity is raising money for those struggling around the world, with food, water and shelter. Working in Yemen, Lebanon, Pakistan, Syria and more, we're there to protect and support those less fortunate, throughout the COVID-19 outbreak.

With your support, we can provide a family of 5 food for a whole month, provide shelters to Rohingya refugees and we can provide the people of Gaza clean drinking water. Donate today to help us to change lives.

What we are doing

#FeelGoodFood Parcel Appeal

With your help, we can supply some of the affected areas with food parcels containing basic food elements that will alleviate their suffering and sustain their health.

Salam Charity is on the ground in Palestine, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen and Syria distributing food packs to families and individuals in crucial need for nourishment.

Below are the costs per unit for each affected country: 

Bangladesh / Pakistan / Somalia:

1 food pack = £40

3 food packs =£120

5 food packs = £160

Yemen / Syria / Palestine:

1 food pack = £50

3 food packs =£150

5 food packs = £250

Each food pack contains the essentials for a family of 5 to feed for an entire month.  A full belly means that people can move forward and lift themselves out of poverty. 

#WishingWell Water Appeal

Every day, poverty continues to rob people of their dignity.  For millions of people, their only wish is to be able to lead themselves out of poverty and provide a future for their loved ones.   

Millions of children are forced to spend hours every day collecting water from filthy rivers depriving them of the education that they so vitally need.

Salam Charity is on the ground building life-saving water wells, installing water pumps and distributing clean safe water through our WishingWell initiative, providing sustainable drinking sources for generations to come.

We have broken down the costs so you can clearly see how much it costs:

#HomeSweetHome Shelter Appeal

Pakistan Shelter Appeal

We aim to build permanent homes for families of 4-6 people in Azad, Kashmir. Each home will contain running water, electricity, heating and proper sanitation. We have created lasting relations, with our trusted partners on the ground, to help build shelters, giving these families hope and a place to call home.

It costs £4200 to give a family a permanent home.  

Indonesia Tsunami Appeal

Indonesia has been devastated by natural disasters, with numerous earthquakes causing huge tsunamis and destroying almost 2 million lives. Thousands of homes have been turned into rubble and lives thrown into turmoil. 

Working alongside our partners; Lazismu in some of the worst-hit areas, including the islands of Palu, Lombok and Serang District, we have ambitious plans to help thousands of people by building shelters, providing clean drinking water and proper sanitation.

It costs just £500 to build a temporary shelter for a facility providing them warmth and safety.  For a full breakdown of the costs visit salamcharity.org/appeals.

Rohingya Refugees Appeal

The Rohingya refugee crisis is the fastest-growing refugee crisis in the world. Since August 2017, the humanitarian situation has deteriorated rapidly, due to the escalating violence in Myanmar’s Rahkhine state.

With hundreds of their homes burned to the ground, from mob attacks, there is a serious and urgent need for shelters to keep them protected and safe.

We are working to build semi-permanent shelters within Cox’s Bazaar, allowing families to have the basic essentials, such as bedrooms, a kitchen and a toilet. For just £800, we will be able to build a safe space for a family of 5 people.

Syrian Refugees Appeal

Since the Syria conflict began in 2011, over 5.4 million people have fled the country and 6.1 million are internally displaced, making Syria the world’s largest displacement crisis. Over 13.5 million people need humanitarian assistance inside Syria, including 8 million children. 

Many families have been forced to leave their homes several times, millions are trapped in hard-to-reach and besieged places, and millions have spent several bitter winters enduring inadequate makeshift shelters.

That’s why we’re building homes within Northern Idlib, allowing families to finally get the protection and safety that they need. Each house costs £660, providing a family of 4-6 people with a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. 

This Ramadan, it is even more important for us to come together and support the most vulnerable people around the world.
