India Covid Relief

Over a year later, the world continues to struggle with the threat of COVID-19 since it was declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020. A highly infectious “double mutant” variant has hit several countries, mainly in South Asia, causing widespread death and infection surges.

On April 21^st, 2021, the Health Ministry of India reported over 314,000 new coronavirus cases, the world’s largest single-day jump of new infections. India now stands with the world’s second highest number of cases following the USA.

Situation on the Ground

Hospitals in the capital city of New Delhi and other hard-hit areas have been filled to capacity, while running low on oxygen, beds, and other provisions. India has accounted for nearly triple the cases of the USA. On April 23, 2021, the overall cases in India were at 16.60 million, the world's second-highest after USA, while deaths rose by 7,150+ to reach more than 189,550. There were 2,550,788 active cases at that time with 8,944 in serious condition. This mounting crisis of new variants of corona in India threatens to prolong the pandemic.

HHRD’s Covid-19 Relief Response

Since March 2020, HHRD has responded to the needs of over 2.35 million people worldwide with food, hygiene items, and personal protective equipment (PPEs) for frontline workers. HHRD is working in collaboration with other civic partners to combat the situation in India, and bring much reprieve in the lives of fellow human beings. We ask that you help us meet the essential needs of these people as they battle the virus.

HHRD’s Work in India

HHRD has been working in India with local credible vetted partner NGOs through Orphan Support, Education Support, Skills Development and Livelihood, Healthcare and Nutrition, Disaster Response, and Seasonal Projects. The current situation calls for international attention as people are dying to live. India has been hit with a catastrophic pandemic and neighboring countries are equally at threat. Please keep these families in your prayers.
